Create a Connection: Photo Thursday (on Sunday)
Krista asked us to post a photo that embodies the word “sustenance” to us. (Sustenance: Something that gives support, endurance, or strength.) Here’s mine:
“Sustenance” (clickable)
Two-Fer Meme (courtesy of Kristen)
Two names you go by:
1.. Deb
2.. Debbie (exciting start, no?)
Two parts of your heritage:
1.. English
2.. Irish
Two things that scare you:
1.. Spiders
2.. Fanatics
Two everyday essentials:
1.. Coffee
2.. A book
Two things you are wearing right now:
1.. jeans
2.. a purple sweater
Two of your favorite bands or musical artists (at the moment):
1.. Dunno
2.. Still dunno (The tricky part of this one is “at the moment”…I go through spells where I hardly listen to music at all other than the constant soundtrack playing in my head and lately has been one of those times. The soundtrack in my head has been heavy on show tunes and assorted ’80’s rock lately, FWIW.)
Two things you want in a relationship (other than love):
1.. Security
2.. Independence
Two truths:
1.. I cuss like a sailor
2.. I cry easily (Those were Kristen’s answers and I’m keeping them because they apply to me too!)
Two favorite hobbies:
1.. Photography
2.. Answering silly memes
Two things you need to do this week:
1.. Finish some fabric postcards I owe people as prizes and/or swaps
2.. Mail them!
Two stores you shop at:
1.. Barnes and Noble
2.. Half Price Books
Two favorite sports (Sports? Favorite sports?? Bwahahahahaaaaaa! Whew…ok, I’m calm now. Ummm….):
1.. Dog walking
2.. Bargain hunting (What, those aren’t sports??)
Two shows you like to watch:
1.. Heroes
2.. Nip/Tuck
Two things you’d buy if money were no object:
1..An extended trip around the world
2..A “big boy” toy for J, like a fully loaded new truck or backhoe
Two wishes for 2007:
1.. Continued good health for my friends and family (That’s another of K’s answers that I’m keeping!)
2..That the direction the US has been taking socially and politically for the last several years would make a big change for the better
If you want to answer this one for yourself, tell me so in comments and you can consider yourself officially tagged!

Gerat photo Deb. And I see from this meme that you and I have a lot in common.
I like this meme - I’ll be borrowing it!
Agree completely about dog walking being a sport, and I’m in its Hall of Fame
I love me a Sunday Sandwich! This one was delicious.
And I also appreciate your take on sustenance–there is nothing more nourishing than a shelf full of books. xo
this was one was perfect

right from the title
to the DAT
you know me…. i’m always good for a deb meme!
And I thought I had a lot of books!
What a fun meme. I may have to try it later this week.
The biggest surprise to me is that you cuss like a sailor! Say it isn’t so…
great sustenance
beautiful photos
Nice bookshelves! Interesting comment from January though, we have way more books than that in our house and I automatically assumed it was just a part of your collection.
Oh, I wouldn’t have thought you cuss either. Why isn’t Neil surprised that I cuss like a sailor? (=
I’d like to ride on a backhoe someday, I’d like to dig.
Oh, you chose books for your sustenance, too!! Yay! You know me….I’ll be doing this meme next week! I think I like them almost as much as you do.
The DAT today made me feel cold. Not a bad type of feeling but just that I could feel the cold air around me and knew that if I touched the water it would be icy cold.
Books are sustenance. Love the picture.
I love your answers to this meme!
If you asked me my favorite sports I would be laughing too. and I do think Bargain hunting is a sport!
I am Very afraid of fanatics too.
XOXO,
Melba
The list for the Create a Connection Mug Swap will be posted tomorrow (Monday)–don’t forget to check the list!
I’m glad you’re participating!
Jessie
I can never resist a meme.
I think I could keep a lot of these answers going from Kiki to you to me. Especially the cussing/crying thing. I think we should all get together - drink, cuss and cry.
Then kill all the fanatics of spiders. Because those are the worst of the worst.
That would be my answer as to what is sustenance also. I gobble up books like chocolate which would be my second answer. Read The Thirteenth Tale last week and it is even better than The Time Traveler’s Wife.
I tagged myself.
My two truths could have been the same as your’s (and Kristen’s) but I changed it up a little one my blog.
I don’t exactly cuss like a sailor but perhaps like a deckhand
Great meme. LOVE the sustenance pic.
~BendingPeak
They say I sound like a fish mongers daughter, loud and fowl.
Thats not a great description but maybe a little true, allthough I am ashamed to admit it.
And I can drive a back hoe and a truck, Bugger that thats a boy thang, that maybe why I cuss a little too, (Giggle)
Love the meme
I cuss and cry, too!! Sometimes at the same time, even!!
It’s another picture of your bookshelves!!! You know how I swoon everytime they are in a picture!!!!
Great meme…and beautiful DAT. Lots of smiles on my side of the computer screen.
xoxoxoxo
I’ll post the meme later today (monday 8th). mmmmm that creek looks peaceful to sit by, I can almost hear it! Is it close to home?
I stole it! :o)
I’m glad so many of you tagged yourself to do this one! It’s been fun reading the answers of the ones I’ve seen posted so far and I’m looking forward to reading more.
Catherine, you’re right about the books. The ones in the photos are a small part of our collection. (I don’t know how many books we own, but I’m confident in saying we’re talking about hundreds…probably even more than a thousand)
It always surprises me when someone says they’re surprised I cuss! I don’t do it often here (because after all, blog entries will show up in searches indefinitely, and who knows where or how they’ll turn up to haunt you later!!!) but c’mon y’all…I live with a former Marine Sergeant and he sounds like one. After all these years, it can’t help but rub off on me a little.
i think it’s so cool you want both security and independence in a relationship….they seem contradictory, but in actuality they go perfectly together. to have true security, you need the freedom to be independent….to be yourself. to be truly independent, it’s best to have the security that love and trust bring…..
I’m tagged. Will post mine later today or tomorrow . . . . .
