70 quirks (minus 35)
DebR on Apr 15 2007 at 12:01 am | Filed under: Friends (Ain't it good to know you've got 'em), It's a Meme Thing
There’s a new blogger in town! One of my internet friends from way back (we’ve been on an email list together for, oh, let’s see….8 years??) has just started a blog. Will you please take a moment to stop by and say hello to LoveAnna? Thanks!
I’m still wandering around feeling a bit like my head is going to fall off, so I’m falling back on a meme - one of those weird, random question types I like so much. This one is a modified version of one I saw on JanetB’s blog. The original was called “70 quirks” but I thought 70 questions was a bit too quirky for me this week, especially considering that several questions covered things I’ve talked about on here recently. So I dumped half the questions. Because that’s one of my quirks - my blog, my rules!
1. What is your favorite thing to wear?
Anything soft and comfy. I don’t like things that are tight, or scratchy, or harsh.
2. Last thing you ate?
Tortilla chips and salsa
3. Nastiest thing you’ve ever eaten?
Rooster fries (aka fried rooster testicles). Or wait, maybe cow tongue. That was pretty disgusting.
4. I say Shotgun, you say?
Wedding (there’s something very wrong with that, isn’t there…)
5. How many U.S states have you been to?
24, plus the District of Columbia (which should be a state, IMO)
6. How many of the U.S states have you lived in?
Five
7. What is your favorite romance movie?
American Dreamer
8. Favorite type of Food?
Something I didn’t have to cook myself!!!!!!!!
9. Do you care if your socks are dirty?
Yes. And also eeeeuuuwwww!
10. Have you ever cheated on a test?
I think so. I couldn’t tell you specifics, but I was sometimes pretty tricksy back in my school days, so I’m thinking the answer is probably yes.
11. Has anyone ever sang or played for you personally?
Yes
12. Do you like Bush?
Janet said: “I have some very nice bushes in my yard that I like but if you’re referring to the one in the White House then my answer would have to be a loud NO!” and I concur.
13. Have you ever gone white-water rafting?
Yes, one time, on the Arkansas River in Colorado, more than 20 years ago. It was the “wimpy” kind where the guide does all the work instead of everyone paddling, but I’ve done it, I loved it, and I’d do it again in a heartbeat.
14. Have you met a real redneck?
Bwahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Whew-doggies! Um, yeah….I live in Kentucky. I’m surrounded by real rednecks. If you want to meet some too, come on down and we’ll take a little drive over to visit one of my brothers-in-law. Just sayin’…
15. How is the weather right now?
Cold, gray, rainy, windy, and thoroughly disgusting.
16. Where was the last place you went besides your house?
Grocery store. Woo-frickin’-hoo, right?
17. What are you afraid of?
Fanatics
18. How many pets do you have?
Four
19. What’s one thing you’ve learned?
You can’t change other people, but you can change how you react to them.
20. What do you usually order from Starbucks?
When I want something hot - caramel machiatto or lately it’s been a cinnamon dolce latte (wish they’d put that on the menu permanently!). When I want something cold, usually a caramel frapuccino lite, no whip. I just found out they’re going to be building a Starcracks in the town where I do my grocery shopping. Yeah, baby!!!
21. Have you ever fired a gun?
Yes. I don’t particularly like them, but my husband insisted I should know how to fire one, so I’ve done some target practice, and I’m a fairly decent shot.
22. Favorite TV show?
Currently - Heroes
Ever - Buffy the Vampire Slayer
23. Has anyone ever said you looked like a celeb?
Yes, now and then. The one I’ve heard most often in recent years is Marcia Cross, but the only resemblance I personally see there is the hair color.
24. If you had a daughter, what would you name her?
Not sure, but I tend to like very traditional names - things like Sarah, Grace, Lily, Elizabeth, stuff like that.
25. Do you find yourself loved?
Yes. Despite the hormone-induced worm-eating feelings I’ve been going through the past week or so, the logical part of my mind knows I am loved.
26. Have you ever been caught doing something you weren’t supposed to?
Well gee, of course not. You must have me confused with someone human. (snort!)
27. Butter, plain, or salted popcorn?
Salt is a must, but I can do either butter or plain. I do plain at the movies though, because that stuff they put on popcorn isn’t butter, it’s some weird oily substance with only the faintest passing resemblance to butter. Ick.
28. Have you ever ridden in a limo?
Nope. I’d like try it sometime though, just to say I have!
29. Has anyone you were really close to passed away recently?
Not super-recently. The latest loss for J and me was when his mom died a couple of years ago.
30. What’s something that really bugs you?
Mosquitoes. They BUG me…geddit, geddit?? Oh, never mind….
31. Do you like Michael Jackson?
Never met him. Don’t like what I’ve seen of him in the media. I like some of his music though, from the Thriller era.
32. Favorite baseball team?
The Rockford Peaches (bonus points if you recognize who I’m talking about!!!)
33. Have you ever milked a cow?
No, and it is one of my life’s ambitions to be able to continue to answer “no” to that question until the day I die.
34. Last time you went bowling?
So many years ago I can’t even tell you. Some of my family talked about going bowling when I was up for a visit last weekend, but that idea never got off the ground. I’m completely awful at it, but I really enjoy it as long as whoever I’m playing with lets me bumble along doing my own thing instead of trying to teach me to do it right.
35. Have you ever cut your own hair?
Yep, used to do it quite regularly, although I’ve been keeping my hands away from the scissors in recent years. I still cut J’s hair though.

My backup is going late, so I’m actually up when your post showed up in my Bloglines.
32. There’s no crying in baseball…

[btw buffy rules ;)]

I love me a good meme and you know I’ll ‘borrow’/play soon. I can’t believe the nasty things you’ve tried - especially because of my whole rooster fetish. That sounds wrong doesn’t it?
I love your answer to shotgun, hehehe.
Rockford Peaches = A League of Their Own, right?
Mmmm…I liked cow tongue
Lovely flower, and I stole the meme!
those flowers are so beautiful. I may steal this next week.
I loved this meme - it was a great one!! The rafting pic - priceless!! I’ve eating many a testicle (animal) but I blogged about nana chasing us with a cow tongue and then I refused to eat the damned thing. BLEH.
I’ve never seen American Dreamer. But you keep mentioning it - so I’m thinking I need to watch it. That movie was on the other day about the girl making Thanksgiving dinner for her quirky family… after reading your movie post - I decided to pass.
Amen to not cooking right now, as Tom is big on having a home-cooked meal on the table - pronto. And it’s taking the fun out of it.
The pic: divine.
another cool meme, deb!
great photo of the rafting… looove the look of glee on your face!
i love the DAT too.
Vx
This is the first time I’ve ever heard of eating rooster testicles. I’ve heard of calf fries before, but not rooster fries!
The rafting looks amazing!
Nice side sprout pic. Our redbuds are long gone.
Deb…Cean and I both enjoyed this one. (he is sitting here next to me, so I read him the answers). I so giggled at your answer to milking a cow…I am with you!!!!
xoxo
Hmmm… how many US states have I been in? None. How many have I lived in? None. Starbucks? Never set foot inside one (although they have arrived in my city, fairly recently). I think there must be a reason why I don’t do these memes. I’ve also never eaten rooster testicles. I thought oysters were pretty revolting, the only time I ever tried them. And tapioca pudding.
10. Have you ever cheated on a test?
I think so. I couldn’t tell you specifics, but I was sometimes pretty tricksy back in my school days, so I’m thinking the answer is probably yes.
I cheated off the one person who did worse than me on the test!
hee hee … you were so super cute : ) why am i not surprised!!
what a fun meme …
Fun Meme. I’m not sure which is worse cow tounge or rooster bits, though I don’t think either should be consumed.
Haha! This made me laugh.
Number 23– No, I see it! Around the eyes and mouth. Yes, you do.
Lovely DAT. So purty.
I might swipe these q’s….
That is great, very entertaining! love the rafting photo. And I have to admit, I like cow tongue … the worst thing I was ever tricked into eating were Mountain Oysters ;0
