A Little Halloween in September

Yesterday I spent a humongous chunk of the day working on a card for an art deck I’m working doing with this group. (This is the same group I trade cards with maybe 2 - 3 times a year, including this swap.) You wouldn’t think these little buggers would be so time-consuming, but they are, at least for me, which is one reason I only do 2 or 3  of these projects a year, even though they’re fun.

The theme for this one is “Halloween Story” and each of us was given a partial sentence. We were supposed to incorporate that sentence into a small text card, then do a 3″ x 5″ art card based on the text. The sentence is, “It was the afternoon of Halloween, but suddenly the day was gone and night came out from under each tree and spread…” This is what I ended up doing, based on those guidelines.

Now I just need to get them all printed, trimmed, and packed, and I’ll be ready to ship to the swap coordinator. Yay!

Here’s today’s Daily Art Thang, another sunset-ish photo, taken around the same time as the one I posted yesterday. What caught my eye when I was taking these photos wasn’t the color of the sky (because it was almost colorless!). It was the rays of the sun and the way they were lighting up dust motes, so that it looked like there were little bubbles of magic floating by.

I really like what you did with the phrase you had to work with. Do you use your own images or royalty-free downloaded?

Deb, you should send some of your stuff to a card publishing company. I mean it! These would be great halloween cards. And so many of your others would be wonderful cards, too!

    :)

Thanks, y’all, I’m glad you liked it! :::beam:::

Star, the collage is made from downloaded images. Sometimes I use my own, sometimes downloaded, sometimes a combination, but this particular one is from downloaded pics.

Amber, that’s so sweet of you (blush) but I wouldn’t know where to even begin going about doing something like that! I’m clueless about that sort of thing.
