A Mountain Hike in (mostly) Pictures

I’m running short on time this morning, but…

Check out the massive rhododendrons on the trail!

That’s my niece, Amber, and her boyfriend Adam in the above pic and in the one below, taken at Abrams Falls in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Mark and his fiancee, her daughter and a friend had a consultation about whether or not it was a good idea to jump in.

Mark and Melissa didn’t, but the kids did.

Johnny just took it all in.

As did I.

Here’s today’s Daily Art Thang. I’m sure one of my books I have around here has the name of this flower in it, but I couldn’t find it, so for now it’s Orange Flower. ;-)

“Orange Flower” (Clickable if you want to see it larger in a new window.)

Love the Smokies, love Abrams Falls. When I come back, I’m always in withdrawal for about a week. Connie

    Damn - J is a skinny thang!

Was the water freezing? Aw, who cares, when you’re that close to the glory of nature you jsut HAVE to jump in!

Hey, I’ve been to Abrams Falls! I love the Smokies, and I always love to see the rhododendrons along the trails there. We don’t have any around here!

Is that a jack-in-the-pulpit? The flower I mean?

When did we get to be the old folks who don’t jump in? I swore that would never happen. Sigh.

fun photos. I like the one with the girls on the rock and the water coming down the other size ‘frozen’ in time.
