I wonder if brain cells taste better when they’re deep-fried

Having grown up with a bunch of good, old-fashioned southern cooks in my family, I pretty much have a core belief that anything tastes better when it’s breaded and fried. This morning my brain feels fried, if not breaded, hence the sort of existential-yet-bizarre and kind-of-icky subject line. Heh.
I’m slugging down coffee like it’s going out of style but I still don’t feel alert. Y’see, I didn’t sleep well last night. Nightmares. Ugh. And what’s worse is that I don’t remember enough of them to figure out what was bothering me - just odd little disjointed flashes. They must’ve been doozies though, because J said I was thrashing around and moaning in my sleep most of the night. (What fun for him! Not.) It’s now 9:24 AM and I feel like I need a nap. I’m thinking this is not a good portent for the rest of the day. Sigh…
So since my brain is feeling fried - yet oddly limp and not all that tasty - allow me to share some linky love this morning.
**My friend Morven is currently running a contest on her blog that’s all about cake. Yum! A prize is at stake, so you might want to check it out.
**The lovely Rebecca (no link, sorry) sent me a Jigzone puzzle made from one of my photos! SO cool - thank you, Rebecca. I finished the 48-piece version in 2 minutes, 45 seconds. If any of you decide to solve it, let me know how you do!
**All you book-lovers, check out Shelfari, a site I heard about on an email list I belong to. It’s a place you can catalog your books, assign star ratings, write reviews, or if you don’t want to do all that work you can simply browse through the virtual bookshelves of others who have. I haven’t joined (yet!!) but since I looooves me some books and I loooooooves me some lists, this site makes me all quivery!
**It’s been a long time since I relentlessly nagged gently reminded anyone about either JustBe…Connected or the Blogland Cruise. I’ll be in Cape Cod in October for the former, leading a couple of (hopefully really fun!!) workshops, and I’ll be floating around the Caribbean in January for the latter, doing my part to give meaning and purpose to the lives of those who manufacture deck chairs and rum. If you’d like to come hang out with me at either location, there’s still plenty of time to get in on the action! Just follow the linky-dinky-doos and make some reservations. (Come on…you know you want to!)
Here’s today’s Daily Art Thang.

I was going to say, those flowers look like morning glories! So pretty
I might have to meander down the Cape in October!
Well, you know I know how you feel! I hope you get some rest too. And thanks for the pic you sent me!
My lackluster puzzling effort yielded 4:08; took me awhile to get the hand of it. Super cool idea though!
I had terrible dreams Wednesday night and no matter how many times I woke up and purposely focused on happy thoughts, I’d just start up where I left off when I fell asleep. Hope your mind is tuning up by this afternoon.
I’m really thinking about the cruise - because it’s around my birthday and we could bring Faith. I need to get the information from you. That woud be so. much. fun. *twink*
I just watched a special about fun foods that said Jell-O had the same brainwaves as an adult male. shocker!
Sounds like you have some summer planned!
I haven’t been sleeping well either - doesn’t it suck?
I am a big Shelfari user. What are you waiting for? Sign up and add me as a friend (schaufferwaffer). Recommend a good book to me!
Another good “bookshelf” site is LibraryThing, developed by a librarian. It’s at www.librarything.com. I tried both, and like LibraryThing better. And if they pick you as a good reviewer, you get advance copies of books from publishers to read and review.
I’m just now reading this*, and I’m glad you liked it! That’s the second time this month I’ve gleaned what someone would like just by reading their blogs. And…lovely? Aww, shucks (digs toe in sand).
*Glory be, I actually had outdoor fun things to do this weekend!
