The Day Can Only Get Better…Right? Right???

ACME Rant-o-maticIt’s been an irritating morning so far, so pardon me for a moment while I break out my Rant-o-matic to gripe about a couple of things.

1. First thing this morning, The Cat Formerly Known as Trixie (aka Trixter) jumped onto the bed and started playing Stalk the Humans, which I usually think is cute and quite amusing. However, I discovered that when the cute kitty makes a sudden and unexpected lunge for one’s unprotected face and whomps his adorably furry little paw directly into one’s left eye, it is much less cute and amusing and much, much more painful.

We may have to stop allowing the Stalk the Humans game, at least first thing in the morning, when his HumanMama has not yet had caffeine to fuel her reflexes. Sigh…

2. Speaking of not cute or amusing, J thinks maybe someone was casing our place for a theft yesterday.

It was when I was at the grocery store and he was here alone. He heard a car pull up and walked outside and it was a couple of people asking for directions. He told them the info they asked for, and then, as they turned around, noticed that the plates on the car were from the county that they had asked for directions to (which is literally like two miles from here - straight shot down the main road…honestly, y’all, even someone with no sense of direction could find it!), and at about the same time, realized that both the vehicle and the person driving it looked very much like the vehicle and person our next-door neighbor described as stopping and asking for directions there a couple of weeks ago - and right afterward some of their belongings went missing.

I know not many of you have been to my house, but believe me, it is not at all normal for someone to stop here and ask for directions. There are houses along the road to either side of us that are visible from the road (a few of them anyway!), but our house isn’t. You have to drive back a steep, gravel, half-mile lane before you even see the house and know for sure anything or anyone is back here. So…very annoying, kind of disturbing. Rather disheartening too. I don’t like the feeling that I have to distrust people and be on my guard, but there it is.

It’s not even really about the potential property damage or loss of our stuff (although of course I don’t want that to happen!). What really freaks me out is the thought that J’s house was burglarized once before we met and the thieves killed his dog to keep him (the dog) from interfering with their robbery. Y’all know how I feel about my dogs. If someone killed them in order to rob us, and I ever found out who it was, I’d probably be blogging (or not!) from prison, because I would want to hurt them. A lot. Perhaps permanently. That would not be a good thing in terms of either the laws of man or the laws of Karma. So.

I think we’re going to call the sheriff’s office and talk to someone. I know there’s nothing they can really do because the person didn’t actually do anything except ask for directions and leave, and it may be nothing but rampant paranoia on our part. But we can at least see if there have been any other break-ins around the area, and if so, give them the person’s description, vehicle description, and part of the plate number (J got the first three numbers). If there have been other break-ins, maybe that’ll help lead them to the thieves before they decide to come back here. Meanwhile, I’m thinking good thoughts as hard as I can~~~

Here’s today’s Daily Art Thang.

Hope J memorized their license plate — that’d be a help to the sheriff if there ever was a problem….

I hope that you’re wrong, but honestly, you’re probably right. I hope those awful people stay the HELL away.

I love your daily art thang - I love dried up echinachea it’s one of my favorite things about Autumn.

Ugh, I hope those freaks stay away. Stay alert, y’all! I don’t believe in the death penalty, but it’s extremely possible I might if someone killed a pet of mine (if I had a pet, that is). It would be time to get medieval on someone if that happened.

Oh, yea, that jump on Mom thing first thing in the morning - Killian has it down pat - if I don’t wake up when he thinks I should - he comes over and bites my hand!

Oh, I hope that they were not casing your place - but, it seems like a hell of a long driveway to drive down just to ask for directions. And, if they are the dudes - then I hope the info J got will be helpful to law enforcement.

And, I think a bunch of us would come and help you get even if someone hurt your babies!!!

Sorry to hear about the bad news … sending prayers and good thoughts your way. It’s amazing how much a partial plate and vehicle description can help - definitely make that call. Peace & love, JP/deb

This sounds like a day to write off. I hope those potentially thieving b*stards know they are messing with the wrong red head. I would call the sheriff for sure.

scary and i hope that nothing unpleasant
comes out of it…isn’t it funny how they say
that about intuition though, that the things
you want to write off as being paranoid
are things you should watch for…
so good that you guys are taking your gut feelings
    seriously.

    on a lighter note,
    i have tagged you for a meme…
    totally optional, of course!
    :)

Wow, I love that picture! You know me with my hole–y rock collection. But what is it that has the hole, is it a rock, or something manmade that is decaying, I can’t tell…mysterious. And sending very strong stay-the-hell-away vibes to surround and protect your home. stoopid criminals.

i hope if they are intending to do something, they get caught really soon and don’t do anyone any harm.
love to you and good luck with not thinking about it.

I’ll be thinking good thoughts for you too. And I think it’s perfectly good Karma to hurt someone who hurts animals :-)
